kaslomirrorlakeMeadow Creek and Cooper Creek are situated at the northern end of Kootenay Lake, about 25 mi /40 km north of Kaslo on Hwy 31, and are gateways to some very remote country. Meadow Creek is a small community of about 200 residents that has a grocery outlet, post office and bank.

Although a bit north of the North Kootenay Lake – Silvery Slocan Super Side Trip, the route to Meadow Creek affords views of glaciers and the lake as you follow the roadway north; the further north you travel up the lake the more spectacularly tall and glaciated the mountains become. Sporting the highest peaks on the Selkirk Loop, this area is the access to the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy Provincial Park and some incredible high-country hiking. Meadow Mountain and nearby Glacier Creek offers some of the most accessible and aesthetic alpine hiking in the region.

Nearby Kootenay and Duncan Lakes are easily accessible from this area. The northern end of the lake offers great opportunities for kayaking the thoroughfare between Kootenay and Duncan as well as primitive camping sites. There are two small Provincial Parks located between the highway and lake as you travel north to Meadow Creek. There are also several privately run campgrounds and B&Bs along this very scenic roadway.
