There is something special about playing golf in the mountains. On The International Selkirk Loop you’ll find 23 golf courses with dramatic elevation changes, spectacular scenery, wildlife and an away-from-it-all atmosphere. Plan your golfing holiday by visiting many of these fine courses and at the same time enjoy small town charm, uncrowded courses, unparlelled scenery in a golfing season that can start as early as April 15 and extend through the end of October.

Here are some highlights on some of the fine Golf Courses found along the Loop drive. For full information, scroll down to find links and maps to 12 of these courses.

Balfour Golf Course is situated above the shores of beautiful 100-mile long Kootenay Lake in southeastern British Columbia. This supurb Les Furber designed course was recently selected by Air Canada’s Inflight Magazine as an “undiscovered jewel” among Canadian courses.

Kokanee Springs Golf Resort is one of Canada’s finest championship 18-hole courses. This graceful track, considered by many to be the flagship of Kootenay golf courses, resides in a magnificent mountain setting on Kootenay Lake. Every hole is framed by spectacular panoramic views of the Kokanee Glacier and surrounding area. Kokanee Springs is a Norman Woods original, characterized by its long driving fairways, immense rolling greens, immaculate course upkeep, and ability to interest and challenge golfers at all levels.

Priest-Lake-Golf-CourseThe Creston Golf Club has been recognized as one of the most beautiful, fun and challenging golf courses in the interior of BC. Professionally designed and immaculately maintained, this wonderful facility is playable from a number of tees ranging from 5300 to 6500 yards. Their website gives the player tips and views of each hole.

Salmo Golf Club’s par 3’s play very tough on this nine hole layout and the lone 550 yard monster par 5 will make even the longest hitters shake their heads. Easy access on Hwy 6 a short drive across the Washington border in BC.

StoneRidge Golf & Recreation Community has a newly redone par 71, 6,684 yard 18 hole championship golf course located in the splendor of peaceful Blanchard Valley a short drive north of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Hwy 41. Nightly accommodations and a Motorcoach RV Park onsite. StoneRidge is also a proud member of the prestigious Idaho Golf Trail.

Serendipity Golf is located along the shores of the Pend Oreille River in northeastern Washington near the small community of Ione. This is a lovely local nine hole course with log cabin accommodations.

Priest Lake Golf Club public course has been recently expanded to a full 18-holes and presents the challenges of sand, water, and forest, as well as the occasional moose or deer grazing in the fairway. They also have a driving range, putting green, and restaurant. Beautiful Priest Lake, Idaho is nearby.

Ranch Club Golf Course is a fun little community course situated 1 mile west of Priest River, Idaho on Hwy 2. The course has a driving range and restaurant.

The Idaho Club – a new residential golfing community east of Sandpoint Idaho on Hwy 200. The course is the first in Idaho to be a Jack Nicklaus Signature course.
