The Village of Slocan City is located on Highway 6 at the southern end of Slocan Lake and Valhalla Provincial Park, 30 km (19 mi) south of New Denver. Slocan was a booming silver town back in the 1890s, but today it serves as gateway to Valhalla Provincial Park. Cyclists can also access the Slocan Valley Rail Trail here, going all the way to the junction of Highway 6/3A.
