The International Selkirk Loop is surrounded by and traverses through public lands. In Washington there are specifically designated recreational OHV areas within the Colville National Forest. Accessed north of Newport, WA is the Batey-Bould OHV Area that features 38 miles of trails. The Panhandle National Forest in Idaho has a  provides TRAVEL PLAN MAPS that identify open and closed roads and trails, closure dates and other details that will help you plan an enjoyable ride. Throughout British Columbia there are thousands of kilometres of gravel roads to explore. The areas to off road are well documented with signs and are highlighted in many backcountry map books and forestry maps available in the nearby communities. It is important to keep your off road vehicle on the road and trails at all times so to assist in protecting the sensitive habitat around you.
